It is quite surprising how profound a
comedy can be about the meaning of life. Groundhog Day follows a
weather man named Phil (Bill Murray) who is stuck reliving the same
day for many years. The nature of Phil's experience is
extraordinary, but the monotony resembles the reality most of us
experience until we pass on.
What really matters to us when we can
relive the same day but retain the memory of each one? Would we
learn to manipulate others to control outcomes for personal gain?
Would we lose all motivation to live after years of the same
events, or would we look inside ourselves to improve our intentions
as human beings? All of these possibilities are explored, giving
great introspection of the human condition.
So what was the catalyst to this
predicament Phil found himself in? Only the audience can decide the cause of Phil's situation, and only can we individually decide what purpose we have in this lifetime.
